The 21st Century Beetle makes its world debut this morning at the Shanghai Motor Show, revealing a revolutionary, new, iconic design. The event will be simulcast in Berlin and New York City, making its introduction on a global scale. As the Beetle makes its debut, you can log onto blogs.vw.com/beetle to view photos and a video of the car. A video of the event will be available on the Beetle blog site later today.
The first thing you’ll notice about the 21st Century Beetle is its aggressive, sleek design, achieved in part by the Beetle’s longer and wider dimensions. Under the hood, the 2012 Beetle continues that assertiveness with improvements in driving performance, including an available 200 hp 2.0T engine and eco-conscious Clean Diesel TDI engine. In addition to a wide array of accessories for interior and exterior personalization, the 2012 Beetle will come standard with unique 17" alloy wheels, leatherette seating surfaces, heated seats, and Bluetooth®. Available equipment includes navigation, Fender Premium Audio, Panoramic sunroof, and keyless access with push button start.
